Mealtimes and Healthy Eating
Eating is a serious business!
It's fair to say that the children at Parkhead Nursery Class enjoy their food!
Meal and snack times are an important aspect of the nursery day and encourage social interactions between the children as well as support the development of positive attitudes towards healthy eating habits. As of August 2021 all West Lothian settings will also provide a free meal as part of the expansion of early learning and childcare. Children attending for the full day or the morning session will be offered a cooked lunch and children attending the afternoon session will be offered soup and sandwiches. You may wish to provide your child with a packed lunch instead and this can be discussed at your child's induction visit. Children have the opportunity to be involved in the selection and preparation of a healthy snack during their nursery day.
